On 12 June 2015 the Victorian Government released the Statewide Waste and Resource Recovery Infrastructure Plan to manage the mix and volumes of Victoria’s waste for the next 30 years. The plan will be supported by seven Waste and Resource Recovery Implementation Plans that will ensure delivery at regional and local levels.

The Metropolitan Waste and Resource Recovery Implementation Plan is currently being developed by the Metropolitan Waste and Resource Recovery Group (MWRRG). The plan will set out how the waste and resource recovery infrastructure needs of the metropolitan Melbourne region will be met over at least the next 10 years.
